Chloe Williams (@bloompaletteartistry) is here to inspire you to try new things and create with satisfying paint texture! We asked her loads of questions about her creative habits, passions, and lifestyle and she came back with stacks of insightful answers. Read on to find out more!
Who or what is your creative inspiration?
My creative inspiration comes in many forms, from mother nature, to travelling and experiencing different cultures, or how I’m feeling that day – the possibilities are endless. Sometimes I’ll have a dream about a piece I want to create, and it’s like I’m painting in my sleep. Then I’ll go and sketch it out or try to recreate it the next time I’m painting. For the most part, when I’m making a piece, there isn’t much planning, it’s just go with the flow!
What’s something that you’re proud of, that you don’t often get to talk about?
Something I’m proud of that I don’t often talk about is one of my other favourite hobbies: training at the gym. I specifically enjoy lifting heavy weights, with deadlifts being my favourite compound movement. I have made a personal record of 125kg in a sumo deadlift, my most proud achievement in the gym. The next goal is to be able to bench press 60kg!
How would you describe yourself?
I would describe myself as a bit of a perfectionist, which when it comes to art, doesn’t always work… but the creative space has helped me ease my need to be perfect, one of the many reasons why I love art. I’m a happy-go lucky kind of person, always with a smile on my face and a positive attitude!
What' s your guilty pleasure?
My guilty pleasure is soft serve, and if not soft serve, then ice cream!
What would your dream creative space look like?
My dream creative space would be a dedicated room or studio, with lots of space, all my paints on display so I can see all the colours I can work with, and all my palette knives and paint brushes neatly organised! A space just for creating that doesn’t matter if it gets dirty, would definitely be a dream. Oh, and definitely lots of sunlight and plants.

What does creativity mean to you?
Creativity for me is endless and comes in so many forms! By occupation, I am an Engineer and you may not think Engineers are creative, but we are – just not in the conventional way we think creativity happens.
Creativity for me is about being inspired by something you see, touch, hear or feel and being so moved that you express it in a form that comes naturally to you!
My creative side has changed throughout the years, starting out in the form of ballet and ballroom dancing to playing piano, then to woodworking, and now in the form of textured art.
What’s your fave way to unwind?
My favourite way to unwind is with some food, on the couch, with my fiancé, watching our favourite TV shows!
How do you make time for creative projects?
At the moment, I am not set up to sell my art commercially but It’s definitely the end goal so that I have the joy of creating whenever I desire. I have a full-time job, so mostly in the evening after work or on the weekends is when I get to create. Life can sometimes take over, but I find that if I’m in a creative mood, then that’s what I’ll do, everything else can wait! And as soon as I don’t feel it anymore, I stop. This works best for me and gives me the best results, otherwise I end up rushing, not paying attention to detail and not enjoying the process which is the whole point of it for me!
What’s an art medium that you love and one that you want to explore more?
I have dabbled in a few different art mediums such as watercolours, resin, fused glass, pottery, and fluid pour to name a few. But I definitely have a keen interest in working with glass and resin!
I’m a little obsessed with glass at the moment and there are a few artists I follow who create beautiful glass flower bouquets! It’s an intermediate technique though, and I haven’t found anywhere that offers a workshop, but if they did, I’d be there!
I definitely also enjoyed trying out resin and made a resin seascape clock at another artist’s workshop.
You’ll definitely find me at lots of workshops, trying out new techniques and learning new skills to apply to my creations. There’s always something to learn.
We’re feeling inspired by Chloe’ explorative creativity and can’t wait to try out some new techniques ourselves! She has taught us that dabbling with a few different mediums and styles is a great way to expand your horizons.
