DIY painted denim jacket with Fabric Paint Medium
1. Prepare your garment
- Lay the denim jacket flat on a table
- Insert a canvas panel or similar material between the layers of fabric to prevent paint bleed-through
- Check the surface is smooth and crease-free to make painting easier
2. DIY fabric stencil
- Print the Celestial Jacket Outline Guide to A3 size
- Use the back of your Tear-Off Paper Palette as a cutting mat
- Cut out the top circle and crescent moon with a hobby knife
- Depending on your jacket seams, arrange the design to fit the back panels (we cut our paper to make the design longer!)
3. Acrylic paint on jean jacket
- Squeeze equal parts Fabric Paint Medium and Titanium White Acrylic Paint onto a palette
- Mix thoroughly with a palette knife
- Paint around the edges of each stencil with the Titanium White mixture
- Remove the stencils and fill in the shapes with the same mixture
- Use a flat brush on its side to paint thin lines radiating from the circle shape
- Dip the end of a brush handle into the paint mixture to add dots around the design
- Add as many stars as you like! Draw a cross, add curves between each point, and fill in
- Allow the paint to dry completely
4. Gold colour fabric paint
- Mix equal parts Fabric Paint Medium and Gold Acrylic Paint on the palette
- Evenly apply gold over the dried Titanium White areas
- Use the same techniques to paint lines and dots for a cohesive celestial effect
- Allow the paint to dry completely before wearing or washing the jacket
NOTE: To wash your design, turn the jacket inside out select a cold cycle on your machine.
