Easy watercolour flowers for beginners
Painting flowers doesn’t have to be tricky and watercolour is a great medium to get you started! Follow along as we create these beautiful flowers using watercolour and graphic fineliners.
Sketch the outline
Begin by drawing circles for the flower buds using a HB pencil. Add lines coming out from the circles, these will be for the stems. then, add leaves of different shapes and sizes to the stems.
Add watercolours
Take your brush and add water to each bud as a base.
Then dip into the colour Scarlet and add this into the buds.
Dip into a Medium Yellow, add this colour to the smaller buds and to the tops of the larger flowers.
Using Scarlet again, build up the intensity of the orange colour.
Dip lightly into Ultramarine Blue and add this to the bottom of the flowers.
Finally, add Sap Green to the leaves. You can experiment by adding a darker green to add dimension to the leaves.
Create details with a fineliner
Once the watercolour has dried, use a black fineliner pen to add stems and connect the leaves.
You can then outline the leaves and add any little details.
Add a stalk detail to the flowers, where the stem and flower connect.
Finish adding any further outlines and details to the leaves.
